It’s a Sellers Market

Many more clients are looking for employees than are actively in the market. In Japan the demand for talented bilingual professionals has always been a major challenge for companies. Now it is even more difficult!

The pool of available candidates is smaller due to COVID and the aversion to risk those Japanese candidates have. Life is not so difficult for many being able to work from home and the expectation of employers has lowered due to the work from home mandates. In a nutshell there is no real need to change jobs in the short term. So how can we motivate them?

The candidates that are in the market are being aggressively recruited with the advantage falling to the larger companies that appear to be more stable and are willing to pay higher salaries helping to lessen any perceived risk that the candidate may feel.

Smaller less well-known companies are at a disadvantage. Finding it very challenging to hire and retain quality employees. Different tactics need to be followed. Changes to internal HR hiring processes need to be carried out. What tactics should companies follow to help them ensure the ability to identify attract and hire from the Talent pool?
